  • Developed by Rockstar San Diego, Red Dead Redemption is a dark and epic story set against the dying years of the American West at the turn of the 20th century. As former outlaw John Marston — blackmailed by the government who threatened his family — is sent back across the frontier to track down the members of his former gang in a world where survival is a constant struggle. . In a dangerous world full of opportunistic criminals, corrupt officials and settlers battling the elements to survive, Marston’s journey takes him from the dusty and lawless frontier to the civilized towns of the North, and down into a Mexico on the brink of a full-scale civil war.

Red Dead Redemption’s single-player story takes players across the American frontier; down into Mexico, up into the mountains and northeast to the Great Plains. Let’s take a look from the beginning…

    • http://www.videogamesblogger.com Ferry

@DrDoom: These are just walkthrough videos done for fun, and by different people too. What would you do different?

@Kurtis: We update the walkthrough with new missions every day. We’ll might also do our own version and that would be a full walkthrough. We had a luxury problem last week when too many great games were released at the same time: POP, Alan and Red Dead Redemption. But we’ll catch up eventually.

      *SPOILER ALERT*

i dont suppose there’s an alternate way to finish this without him dying is there? If you go into the silo and shoot from cover can he pick off the lawmen and army?

      *SPOILER ENDS*

where the heck is lake don julio

Okay im confused after you complete the extra mission playing as Jack is it still like a free roam type thing or is it just done?

    • Joe

I racked up about 2.5 days of playing time (real time, not game time), beat the game, tried to get as many of those ambient challenges as I could, and just roamed for the hell of it. The game was interesting I guess, and I liked the Hold Em aspect, but the storyline sucked. I mean really sucked. Why would I ever play it again? To start again on a 15+ hour endeavor or to finally kill I grizzly with a knife? The game had no heart. Beautiful graphics and good enough controls, but no heart. Bad writing, lousy character… those stranger missions? Why? To take up time?

This is all my opinion, and I know the game has been received very well, but for what it’s worth, I wouldn’t recommend it as a great story game. As far as action, you can shoot with you rifle/shotgun/what have you until the cows come home. You’ll either get killed by the law or kill them all. Then you… just go on, I guess.

As far as a free roam with heart, I’d put my money on assassin’s creed – which although has a confusing storyline (thus far), at least has likable characters. Has anyone else out there also been let down?

    • Jester

@Joe Nice to see a validated thought on the game as most tend to leave it with “that sucks” or something to that effect but I’ll have to agree that some missions did seem like fillers just to make the story last a little while longer. Have you played much of the multi player?

    • Mike

How long till that extra mission with jack gets started?

but yeah i agree that the story wasnt overly good. i was hoping for a detailed gta type of storyline. but i still feel this was an enjoyable game all round. maybe for next time increase the difficulty a tad bit though.
