God of War: Ghost of Sparta has been announced for PSP as the newest game in the God of War series and the follow-up to 2008’s God of War: Chains of Olympus PSP adventure.

This newest title will build on what was successful about the first game, including it’s stunning visuals and tight gameplay, which has made it metacritic’s highest-rated PSP title.

In development by Ready At Dawn studios in conjunction with SCEA’s Santa Monica Studio, the key figures involved in the God of War franchise will be in place to assure the high standards the God of War games are known for.

The game will be a prequel, picking up where the original God of War left off. Telling the story of Kratos’ ascension to power as the God of War. Kratos will have to face his dark past and the nightmares that haunt him in order to prove his worthiness to the gods . . . A journey that will reveal the origins of lost worlds and finally answer long-awaited questions about Kratos’ tattoo, scar, and family.

Naturally, we will learn much more about the game at E3 2010 on June 14-17.
