Gradius VI trademarked for PS3 as Gradius Arc

Gradius VI Arc trademark will use PS3 Motion Controller
Gradius VI may have been confirmed for release on PlayStation 3 via a trademark for “Gradius Arc” from Konami. Previously the game was rumored under the title “Gradius: Last Gaiden”.

Arc, as you may know, is what many are calling the “Sony Motion Controller” that was revealed at E3 2009, and allows Sony to compete with Nintendo’s Wii Remote & Nunchuck+MotionPlus and Microsoft’s upcoming NATAL.

This goes hand in hand with a recent trademark from Sony themselves for the actual name “PlayStation Arc”, a name that has been code and unofficial. While it’s still an unofficial title for the Motion Controller, it does give more credibility to the name and may mean that Sony will confirm the name soon.

No other information on Gradius Arc has been confirmed, other than that it will obviously be the latest game in the long-running side-scrolling shooter series from Konami. Only this time it looks like you will be controlling the game in an all-new way with the PlayStation Arc controller.
