Fragile Dreams: Farewell Ruins of the Moon has a release date of March 16, 2010 in the U.S. and March 19, 2010 in Europe.

Set in a post-apocalyptic vision of Japan, Fragile Dreams is a fantasy adventure game that takes place in a world seemingly devoid of human life. Consequently, gamers will experience an acute sense of isolation as they guide an abandoned young boy named Seto, who is searching for survivors on the way to his final destination.

Promising players an “engaging and unique game”, as the story unfolds the gamer gradually begins to make sense of the desolate world while fending off ghosts and other hostile creatures, using the Wiimote as both weapon and torch.

Visually stunning, audio is also crucial in Fragile Dreams – along with an emotional soundtrack, ghostly sounds emanate from the Wiimote’s speaker, adding to the eerie environment. It can also be pointed at the source of a sound and used as an aid to detect key items and locations.

The Western release of the game will contain everything that was in the Japanese version with a few extras. A Japanese voices option is available in addition to the newly recorded English voices, and an Extras option has been added to the Main Menu once you beat the game. The new mode allows players to re-watch key movie scenes from the game, view concept artwork and watch the Japanese trailers.

If you pre-order the game in the US from GameStop or EB Games, you’ll get an exclusive soundtrack CD called Moonlight Tracks, that features 12 songs from the game, including the Japanese opening and ending themes.

It’s also worth noting that the game actually includes the American box artwork on one-side, with the Japanese cover art on the reverse!

Here is a more detailed look at the game.

Key features of Fragile Dreams include:

* Emotional Story about Abandonment, Loneliness and Redemption – The game’s focus is on human drama as a boy wanders a post-apocalyptic world in search of answers and companionship.
* Gorgeous Graphics and Lighting Effects – High production values bring the desolate but eerily beautiful world to life as the lighting reflects realistically off environments to show all the tragic details of a previously inhabited land.
* Moving Musical Score – A haunting and inspired soundtrack helps convey a full range of emotions such as utter despair to finding small victories even when it appears all is lost.
* Controls Optimized for the Wii Remote – The Wii Remote is used as a flashlight and to control the direction of movement, while also serving another function as a proximity sensor to track invisible ghosts.
