Apple iPad announced with 9.7-inch touchscreen starting at $500

Apple has officially announced the iPad, which is literally like a large iPod Touch. It has been rumored for years and was finally unveiled officially today.
Here are all the details laid out in easy-to-digest bulleted form:
* Half an inch thick.
* Weighs just 1.5 pounds, doesn’t feel light in your hands.
* 9.7-inch capacity IPS LCD touchscreen display that is stunning to look at and feels like holding a huge iPhone in your hands. It’s also 1024 x 768.
* Runs on a custom 1GHz Apple “A4″ chip developed by the P.A. Semi team that is blazingly fast.
* Battery life of 10 hours normally (month of standby)
* Comes in 16GB ($499), 32GB ($599) and 64GB ($699) models.
* Includes: 30-pin Dock connector, a speaker, a microphone, Bluetooth, 802.11n WiFi and optional 3G, as well as an accelerometer and a compass.
* The optional 3G support runs on AT&T. Data plans include 250MB for $15 and Unlimited for $30 a month (no contract). You can activate/cancel directly from the iPad at anytime.
* Every iPad comes unlocked and includes a GSM “micro-SIM” so you can use it outside the USA. No international details have been announced yet, though they are coming “this summer”.
* Other support includes: A keyboard that hooks up to the bottom, 1024×768 VGA out, 480p compsite out through dock adapter cables and a camera attachment kit that lets you import photos via USB or through an SD Reader
* The device is managed via iTunes just like an iPhone.
* Sync’s to a Mac computer.
* Can run iPhone apps (pixel-for-pixel in a window or pixel-doubled fullscreen).
* Developers will also be able to make apps that support the new screen size.
* There is NO MULTITASKING whatsoever. A HUGE setback.
* There is NO FLASH support currently. Also a huge setback, no Hulu for you.
* There is no camera in any way, shape or form, not an even an SMS/texting app.
