MAG for the PlayStation 3 is an exclusive, mass shooter in which over 256 players* can fight at one time. Before the release of the game on January 26, 2010, we thought it was time to take a look at the classes and factions that you will find in this Massive Action Game.

*Note: You won’t unlock 256 player battles (called Domination) until you reach level 10.

FACTIONS

There are three factions in MAG, each of which is a private military company. They are:

MAG S.V.E.R. faction logo

S.V.E.R.
Tagline – “The fire within fuels the true warrior.”

S.V.E.R. is based out of Grozny, in the Chechen Republic. Unconventional in their look and fierce fighting style, S.V.E.R. operatives consist of former soldiers and private citizens from war-torn nations. Some members are rumored to have criminal backgrounds. S.V.E.R. stands for “Seryi Volk Executive Response”.

S.V.E.R. is . . . Aggressive, Intimidating . . . Rebellious.

MAG Raven Faction logo

RAVEN
Tagline – “Precision in training and battle, above all else.”

Based in Vienna, Austria, Raven Industries, GmbH provides specialized military services using cutting-edge equipment and advanced tactical coordination.

Raven is . . . State-of-the-Art, Precise . . . Elite.

MAG Valor faction logo

VALOR
Tagline – “Improvise, adapt, overcome.”

Founded by former U.S. Army officers, Valor Company, Inc. offers an experienced team of veterans drawn from U.S., British and Mexican special forces. The company is headquartered in the Alaskan wilderness.

Valor is . . . Disciplined, Adaptable . . . Battle-hardened.

CLASSES

In addition to the three factions listed above, the game is further divided into Classes. Here is a list of the Classes in the game.

1. Snipers – A vital role, for obvious reasons. Snipers can take enemies out from afar before they can attack, and they are very effective against paratroopers.

2. Demolitions – You will want a demolition if you plan on taking out convoys or any big vehicles.

3. Medic – Pretty self-explanatory, the medic’s job is to make sure the rest of the team doesn’t die.

4. Machine Gunner – Self-explanatory as well. You want lots of bullets, he’s your guy.

5. Para-Trooper – Obviously has certain advantages due to the nature of access a parachute gives you.

Here is a video with the developers discussing the game.

Mr. Staircase, who played the MAG Beta, gives the following overview:

1. Support (Medic, Repair, Assisting Skills).

2. Sniper.

3. Commando (Radar Abilities, Close Combat Weapons).

4. Direct Action (Basically all Machine Gun).

5. Rapid Assault (Basically all Assault).
