WiiWaa stuffed animal kids videogame
Zoink Games is about to revolutionize the way kids play with stuffed animals in “WiiWaa” (shouldn’t there be an exclamation point or two in that title?) an all-new Japanese Wii game in which the stuffed animal is the controller!

Although this game is most definitely aimed at little tykes and is very simplistic going by the video, which you can watch to your amusement below, the game actually makes a ton of sense when you put some thought into it.

Imagine sitting your little one down in front of the TV, and having them move the doll to make it react to their movements on the screen. It’s actually ingenious, and I can’t believe it hasn’t been done before. Though it likely has just not in this manner. Either way I think Zoink Games has a cool idea on their hands.

By placing the Wii Remote in the mouth of the WiiWaa creature, kids will literally feel like they are bringing it to life and controlling the creature. All the gameplay mechanics are simple so any child should be able to grasp it. They will waddle the stuffed animal side to side to make it walk on set paths, they will shake the WiiWaa when it is attacked by an enemy to defeat them, and they will make the WiiWaa duck to avoid detection by laying him flat on his belly. One fruit collecting mini-game even has the player physically tossing the WiiWaa into the air to collect fruit!

The game will also ship with real badges that the player can put onto the stuffed animal whenever they collect a badge in the game, as a why of physicalizing their virtual reward.

Here is a video so you can see WiiWaa in action!

I’m all for great kids games, and this one seems like a well thought out, unique, fun idea, so kudos to Zoink Games! So far the game does not have a release date either here or overseas, but hopefully it’ll see an international release in 2010.
