God of War 4: Life Beyond Olympus With Kratos’ Brother

God of War 4 to star brother of Kratos as seen in Brith of the Beast epilogue of God of War 1?
Speculation on the Internet abounds that God of War 4 will feature Kratos brother . . . could he possibly be the new Kratos? Does life beyond Olympus connect us with Kratos past like never before?

So how did avid God of War fans come to this conclusion?

They simply connected two and two. You see, in the recent God of War Collection, there is a scene in God of War 1 that you unlock after finishing the game called “Birth of the Beast”. Simply watching this scene will earn you a Silver Trophy called “Legend of the Twins”.

The scene in question tells of Kratos childhood, and how he grew up in Sparta with a brother. However unlike Kratos himself, his brother was cast aside to the mountains and left to die . . . He was determined to be unfit as a Spartan (a method of warrior-raising by the Spartans that is based on historical fact). And now his lost brother wants revenge on the brother that left him abandoned.

Even though this is an old scene, it gains new significance now due to the simple fact that you get a Trophy for watching it. Why would the developers focus on this scene and make it so important as to warrant a Trophy?

Maybe it’s because they are hinting at the future of God of War by rewarding you for delving into its past?

Now of course this is all speculation. But while the God of War story has officially closed with God of War 3, that doesn’t mean the series will end according to John Hight in an interview with HipHopGamer. And this sounds like a really cool possibility of taking players and the series in a new direction while still linking it to the previous universe.

If you never got to play God of War 1 or want to see where this speculation comes from, here is the Birth of the Beast bonus video.
