MAG game release date is January 26, 2010

MAG will be released on January 26, 2010 exclusively for the PlayStation 3.
Originally called MAG because it stood for “Massive Action Game”, the game is generally referred to simply as “MAG”. It is developed by Zipper Interactive, the folks who brought us the SOCOM series.
If you pre-order it before release from one of the retailers listed, you’ll get a special in-game goodie:
* GameStop – S.V.E.R. In-Game Character
* GameCrazy – RAVEN In-Game Character
* Amazon.com – S.V.E.R. PlayStation Home Personal Space
* 7-Eleven – Recruitment Kit & Poster
* Best Buy – VALOR In-Game Character
MAG promises to take multiplayer shooting on consoles to the next level with support for 256 players. This massive group is divided into 8-player squads, with 4 squads forming a platoon, and 4 platoons forming a company. Squads are led by a higher level player who has advanced higher into the ranking system.
The three Private Military factions in the game include:
* Seryi Volk Executive Response/S.V.E.R. (pronounced “Sever”), made-up of people taken from various war-torn countries.
* Raven Industries, the high-tech faction.
* Valor Company, a more standard, modern type of force.
Battles in the game take place within larger, more involved campaigns, meant to encourage players to keep coming back to the game and play it actively. There will be vehicles in the game (tanks, APCs, planes) as well as the ability to call in airstrikes or parachute. Your avatar is also customizable with the ability to change their face, voice, armor, weapons and kits.
Here is a preview for MAG.
The storyline goes something like this:
The year is 2025. The optimism and harmony of the 2010s were completely eradicated by 2020. A global crisis loomed. Food shortages sparked riots, currencies plummeted, fuel reserves dwindled, and oil-producing nations began to ration what remained. It is a dark future. Governments earmarked money for humanitarian efforts, overseas security, and intelligence services which, over time, found its way the coffers of a small group of Private Military Companies. These three private armies (Valor, Raven, and S.V.E.R.) then began to recruit aggressively. Soldiers without a country, the contractors fight wars that never happened. This is the nature of the Shadow War.
Key features include:
* Customize your character as well as weaponry and pursue a wide variety of combat specialties from elite fighter to a general of an army.
