Splinter Cell: Conviction will have co-op multiplayer mode

Splinter Cell: Conviction will have a cooperative multiplayer mode!
This was revealed in the latest issue of the PC gaming magazine PC Zone. Apparently magazines CAN still bust stories.
According to the issue, it promises that the new information released on the game will include: Hands-on play details, a brand new mode revealed, and the first details on the all-new cooperative multiplayer mode!
You can get your very own hands on this exciting issue of the magazine on December 23rd. Update: Official Xbox Magazine UK got the scoop on the new mode details:
The co-op mode includes a prologue to the main storyline, which takes place 2 months before the main storyline. Players will fill the shoes of Daniel Sloane-Suarez (Archer) and Mikhail Loskov (Kestrel). This campaign details how EMP’s were freed by rogue factions cloaked within Russian Intelligence before the Russian Mafia stepped in. To quote co-op designer Patrick Redding: “They don’t really like each other or trust each other. But you’ll hear in their dialogue, moving through the missions, that their trust is slowly building. If Sam Fisher is our panther, then these two guys are like a couple of Velociraptors taking down the herd. You are going into this really seedy, gritty underbelly where we can put the whole graphical horsepower of our engine and the Xbox 360 to work giving you the lurid texture of this place.”
The challenge modes, titled Third Echelon Missions, consist out of 6 different maps based on the 4 levels from the co-op campaign, the 2 that are mode exclusive. The 4 maps revealed so far are: Hunter, Infiltration, Last Stand, and Face Off.
Additionally, Ubisoft told us that they have something new happening on the Splinter Cell Conviction website, can you figure out the Russian?
Definitely exciting news for fans who were looking forward to picking up the game when it releases on February 23, 2010 for PC and Xbox 360. — Via CVG
