DSi Speak Channel for chatting over online Wi-Fi coming?

A “DSi Speak” Channel, which would allow DSi owners to chat with each other online over Wi-Fi much like the Wii Speak Channel, may have been inadvertently revealed by Nintendo.
A page on Nintendo.com had a funny error which read:
“To redeem a Nintendo DSi Download Ticket number, such as for the Nintendo DSi Speak Channel, enter the number off the Nintendo DSi Download Ticket in ‘Settings and Features’ off of the main Nintendo DSi Shop page, then select ‘Nintendo DSi Download Ticket.’”
After CVG and other gaming media discovered the error, it was then removed/fixed by Nintendo, who released these statements:
“It’s rumor, as nothing has been announced.” Nintendo UK Representative
Followed by:
“There are no plans for a Nintendo DSi Speak Channel at this time. The text for the error message in question was incorrect and has been removed.” – Nintendo of America Representative
Although it has been denied, it’s not too hard to picture Nintendo adding this channel much like they did with the Wii Speak Channel for Wii. It could also spur sales of the Nintendo DS headset. Not to mention further help compete with the PSP, which supports Skype. And why not add it? I mean the thing already has a built in microphone! It just makes sense.
But we’ll just have to wait and see. Either it was a true mistake, or it’s something actually in the works.
