Is Rock Band: U2 the next title in line for Harmonix as far as a standalone band-focused The Beatles: Rock Band follow-up is concerned?
Well . . . possibly.
Although there isn’t a necessarily anything in the works coming from Harmonix and MTV Games’ side, the powerhouse rock band U2, in speaking to USA Today, has stated that they are now completely open to the fact of following-up on the The Beatles Rock Band success.
U2 bassist Adam Clayton told the newspaper that the band had previously been in talks to lend their songs and likeness to a Rock Band game last year, but that the deal fell through.
To quote:
“We definitely would like to be in there, but we felt some of the compromises weren’t what we wanted,” Clayton told the paper. “That could change. I love the idea that that’s where people are getting music, and we’d love to be in that world. We’ll figure something out. What The Beatles have done, where the animation is much more representative of them, is what we’re interested in, rather than the one-size-fits-all animation,” Clayton said. “We didn’t want to be caricatured.”
As has been stated many times over, there are only so many bands that carry the stature of a band like The Beatles. U2 is one of them, so I’d say the possibility of a U2: Rock Band is certainly pretty likely.
