Nintendo’s juggernaut release this holiday season is New Super Mario Bros. Wii (which hits on November 15, 2009).

One of the most innovative features in this new side-scrolling Mario game, outside of it’s four-player support, is called the “Super Guide Mode”. This mode is meant to help those players who can’t get passed the difficult section of a stage.

If you have died over 8 times on that level, a Green Question Mark Box will appear, hit it and the game will go into a helper mode, where you can watch the stage being perfectly played by Luigi. Although you can’t play alongside him with your Mario character, you can actually take control of Luigi at anytime during the walkthrough and continue playing, and even progress in the game.

But the walkthough will not reveal secrets hidden in the levels, shortcuts or anything like that, it is a simple straight play through that allows people who are stuck to pass the difficult part and continue playing. It also allowed Nintendo to make the stages as difficult as they want without having to worry about certain people not being able to pass it!

There are some restrictions as well, once you have turned on the Super Guide at the beginning of the level and taken control of Luigi, you won’t be able to turn it back on again (unless you die I assume) says Kotaku.

PS: Since the Super Guide doesn’t show the secrets, try our New Super Mario Bros. Wii walkthrough for videos of all levels in detail.
