What is the size limit for Xbox Live Arcade games? Well since you asked . . .

The new size limit is 2GB according to Microsoft. This is a far cry from the beginning size, as when Xbox Live Arcade launched Microsoft imposed a size-limit of 50MB! Anything game larger than that would not be approved for sale.

Microsoft then changed it to 150MB . . . and since then has only allowed the size to increase. Nowadays there really isn’t as size limitation . . . only the limitation as imposed by the hardware itself. Shadow Complex came in at around one full GB, while the Command & Conquer 3: Challenge Pack was nearly 2GB!

Here is the answer from Microsoft, via IGN:

“The 2GB limit is a technical limitation of the system being used. Games on Demand, a section of the Xbox Live Marketplace where you can buy full retail games to download, uses a different file structure and so that limitation does not exist.”

And there you have it.
