Dragon Quest VI DS remake announced at the Tokyo Game Show 2009

Dragon Quest VI is finally getting it’s remake on as Square Enix announced that it is coming to DS at the Tokyo Game Show 2009.
Like the Dragon Quest IV: Chapters of the Chosen and Dragon Quest V: Hand of the Heavenly Bride remakes before it, this one will include upgraded 3D environments (with 2D sprite characters on top), additional frames of animation for the monsters and an upgraded translation, among other things.
Dragon Quest VI was originally released in 1995 in Japan and stars a hero who stumbles across a hole leading to another world while out doing some errands for his home village. On his way he’s joined by a variety of allies, including: Hassan, a martial artists who sees himself as your training pupil; Milayou, a mysterious girl who joins your party for even more mysterious reasons; and Terry, a lone-wolf swordsman who has a tendency to get in your way at inopportune times. Terry was also the star of Dragon Warrior Monsters, which was the first time Americans were introduced to the character.
The game has yet to get a U.S. (or Japanese, for that matter) release date but it will be playable on the TGS 09 show floor, which means it can’t be too far off for release in Japan, and hopefully the rest of the world soon after.
