BlazBlue 2: Continuum Shift has been announced by Arc System Works and it is set for release this Winter in Japanese arcades. With planned releases for Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3.
Like they did with the Guilty Gear series before it, this update/sequel will contain a few additions and tweaks but won’t be a major shift in difference to the first BlazBlue: Calamity Trigger. The old cast will have new moves in the sequel as well as rebalanced controls, the stages will be remade, a Beginner Mode is being added, there will be a new projectile for Carl, more ways for Arakune to curse, a new Distortion Drive for Rachel, a new Dive for Ragna and two new characters will make their debut.
One of them that was revealed as a militarily dressed female named Tsubaki Yayoi. “We’re emphasizing ease of use in balancing her,” producer Toshimichi Mori told Famitsu. “A lot of her moves hit on multiple levels, and I think she’ll be easy to use for beginners.”
If you happen to be in Tokyo for TGS right now, a location test for Continuum Shift will be taking place at the Hey arcade in Akihabara beginning this Saturday. “We’re developing this game for fighting game fans — not beginners, not advanced players, but fighting game fans — to enjoy playing each other in,” Mori said. “The story really gets into the core of the game, and it’s fully voiced, of course, so I hope everyone’s looking forward to it.”
It is not yet known if the game will be released as a standalone game on a disc (it sounds like it) or as downloadable content. Hopefully it is as DLC, because people who just purchased the game not too long ago when it came out are not going to be happy about re-buying it just to get a few new additions.

Uhh… I don’t think so. I will only buy this as a disc. New characters, and new stories for each character in story mode definitely warrants a new disc.

Yeah….are you high…? Seriously, have you played the game…or are just writing about it…fans and players of the series will kill if this is DLC. Changes that might be considered “small,” (but are not anyways) equate to BIG changes in gameplay. 2 NEW characters, Changes to EVERY character, NEW storyline, NEW stages……..yeahhhhh….DLC….you might want to get your facts straight….because I’m very doubtful of that.
Btw, besides that, nice story. And if anyone who does play this game wanna play against a Litchi or Nu, add “glencocoe.”
