The Wii Internet Channel will now be free to download announced Nintendo.

Previously the Internet Channel, which allows you to browse the Internet via the Opera Browser, cost players 500 Wii Points ($5) to download initially. However it was free for a limited time when Nintendo first released the system, and now they are going back to giving it away for free once again.

And if you did pay $5 for it previously, Nintendo will reimburse you by giving you 500 Wii Points to spend on any NES game you like in late October.

In addition, the Internet Channel Adobe Flash support has also been upgraded. Hopefully this will mean I can now watch more than just youtube on the thing . . .

I”m always happy to expand on my ever-growing NES Virtual Console library too, so this definitely makes me happy. Now maybe I can buy one of those Mario classics that I couldn’t get myself to pay $5 for in the past since I’ve played so many different versions of them and already own several.

Was’ent it always free. And anyhow, don’t you earn Wiipoints from achievements not real cash, or does it only work like that when online using a 360 or ps3? mcjakeqcool
