God of War Collection puts 1 and 2 on one PS3 Blu-ray disc

Sony has announced God of War Collection for the PlayStation 3. It will include upgraded editions of God of War 1 and God of War 2 contained on one Blu-ray disc.
Both games, which were originally developed on PS2, will be upgraded to a 1280×720 resolution, run at a perfectly smooth 60 framers per second, have anti-alised graphics (read: no jagged lines) and will include Trophy Support for both titles! It will also be sold a budget price of $40.
Developed by Sony Computer Entertainment, Santa Monica Studio, the God of War series brings epic mythological battles to life with stunning graphics and an elaborate plot that puts Kratos, the triology’s main character, at the center of carnage and destruction as he seeks revenge against the Gods who have betrayed him. This collection will help those who haven’t played the original games catch up on the storyline as they await God of War III‘s release exclusively on the PS3 in March 2010.
“We are excited today to announce God of War Collection,” said Scott Rohde, vice president, Worldwide Studios America. “Our fans spoke and we listened; thanks to our partnership with Bluepoint Games, fans and newcomers to the series can experience the epic God of War and God of War II saga in stunning 720p on PS3. This Blu-ray Disc compilation brings Kratos to PS3 even earlier than expected.”
The collection is great at a great price point, but I do wish they could’ve sealed the deal with either the PSP God of War: Chains of Olympus game included, or at least a demo for God of War 3. And hopefully this collection will contain all the behind-the-scenes extras from the original God of War 2′s release. It would be nice if they added those kinds of extras for the original as well.
And don’t forget to read our God of War 1 review and God of War 2 review for more information on those games.
