Heavy Rain downloadable content being considered as extra stories

Heavy Rain may be getting some additional DLC in the form of extra episodes that would add to the storyline. However David Cage, founder of developer Quantic Dream, is aware enough to not leave players hanging with a cliffhanger that they’d have to download an extra chapter to solve.

“It’s a self-contained experience. We won’t release the end of the game as DLC that you need to pay for. The game has all the scenes it’s supposed to have. It’s a complete story,” Cage said in an interview at GamesCom 2009. “But we are talking with Sony at the moment about having maybe extra downloadable content, maybe with prequels or sequels about the characters. I’m sure people will get attached to some of them and will want to know them even better.”

Cage also discussed some of the newly confirmed online features that will appear in the title.

“We’re working on this at the moment, having some content online and different features online,” he said. “But it won’t be of course multiplayer. It’s a single-player experience.”

Cage also promises that these downloadable extra stories does not mean that the game is “short” necessarily. He says it was built to be a “short” experience, but that it is a fully fleshed out one. And that there is “big replay value”. The story scenes are also all intertwined and players can replay scenes or jump to and fro as they try to piece the mystery together.

The game releases exclusively on PlayStation 3 early next year. — Via VideoGamer
