Is there a MotorStorm 3 game in the plans of development studio Evolution Studios?
When searching for information on possible sequels, it’s always important to go directly to the source. That is, an interview with a person at the company. And then parse their words. As they are often asked in interviews about the next game or if they plan on doing sequels.
That was exactly what was asked in this PSU interview with Game Director Nigel Kershaw,
Question:Are there any plans for the team at Evolution Studios to work on another World Rally Championship game in the future?
Kershaw: Never say never, but at the moment . . . at the moment we’ve got lots of plans that don’t include going back to rally games.
Of course, as of December of last year, Motorstorm 2: Pacific Rift had exceeded one million copies sold. So that has pretty much guarenteed that we have not seen the last of the Motorstorm series. Which is branching to the PSP with MotorStorm: Arctic Edge (PSP, PS2) later this year. — Via PSU
Update February 2010: Sony Computer Entertainment recently registered the domain for Motorstorm3.com, which at the moment still leads back to Playstation.com. A Sony representative stated that “It’s not uncommon for us to secure the URLs containing the names of our successful IP, and those actions should not be interpreted as an announcement of a new title in a franchise.”
