Fable II becomes episodic. First chapter a free download on September 29, 2009
Fable 2 is releasing to the Xbox Live Marketplace on September 29th, as part of the Games on Demand service of full Xbox 360 games available for download.
However to make the load of the gigantic game easier to digest, Fable 2 will be split into five chapters, so that you can download it a chunk at a time.
What’s more, the first chapter of the game will be available for free! And if you at any time buy the actual retail disc, your saves will work with either version.
“This is great from a developer’s point of view. You could buy the next episode, or buy the whole thing – keeping them in-game,” said Peter Molyneux at Microsoft’s GamesCom 2009 tradeshow in Germany.
Additionally, the Knothole Island and See the Future DLC expansions are fully compatible with the downloadable version.
