On the heels of a horse-riding peripheral that Nintendo patented, comes a more solid and complete looking Pedal Controller with Cycling Game! Which may or may not be from Nintendo.
This new fitness title, if real, allows players to simulate cycling with a unique controller. The Pedal Controller is not a full-on bike but rather a small set of pedals that you use while sitting down on something else. You simply place your feet on the pedals and play while sitting on the couch, for example. While keeping the Wii Remote & Nunchuck in your hands. I don’t know about you, but I’m actually interested in this thing. I could see it working.
Then you have the actual Cycling Game which isn’t titled but already contains a bevy of features, all revealed via a marketing slide. Allowing players to “pedal their way to fitness!”, the game has over 30 levels based on actual locations, from Monaco to Hawaii to Paris to the Grand Canyon in Arizona.
The game contains a whopping 60 activities that includes Road Races, Downhill Biking, Dog-Walking and Pedal Powered Paragliding. There’s even a BBQ mini-game where you pedal to make the hunk of meat spin, thus cooking it! To quote, “Though the cardiovascular-intensive game will track calories burned with a Wii Fit-like interface, one of the activities its simulates is a high-fat barbecue, with players cranking the pedals to simulate turning a spit roast.”
If the marketing slide is anything to go by, this game will cost $90 and include both single and multiplayer activities. Doesn’t sound like a stretch at all to me, albeit I bet the slide and the game are in early form.
