Is Garou: Mark of the Wolves 2, aka Fatal Fury 10 still being planned by developer SNK?

The sequel to the hit fighting game series was supposedly “around 70%” completed during 2005, as was mentioned by an illustrator on the game at a King of Fighters-party event. It was being developed for the Neo Geo.

At this time the team revealed that one of the new characters would be the student of Joe Higashi (previous star of the Fatal Fury series).

The next year, in July of 2006, SNK stated that they were still working on the game and that it would use new high resolution graphics.

The last time the game was heard from was March of 2008, where SNK commented that the game was still in development but there was “no concrete schedule” due to low demand for the title. However they did mention that the game would use some new technology if, or when, it was released. They also stated once again that the title was on their mind.

Now that SNK has released The King of Fighters XII for Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3, maybe they’ll return to working on Fatal Fury 10 and finally release it.
