No English version of Yakuza 3 being localized, says Sega

It looks like Yakuza 3 may not be coming to the United States or Europe according to a Sega representative.
Speaking to a Providence Examiner, the rep. apparently spoke his own mind when he made a blunt remark saying simply that there would be “no Yakuza 3″ in America due to poor sales of Yakuza 2. Naturally, Sega thinks that Yakuza 3 won’t have strong enough sales to justify the price tag of localizing it.
However Kotaku is reporting that the same rep above, Sega of America’s Ray Almeda, told them that his remarks were “not official” and simply based on his own opinion. However VG247 is reporting that both Sega of America and Sega of Europe told them that they have no plans of releasing Yakuza 3 in their respective territories.
Why won’t Sega just release it as-is with English subtitles via PSN? Seems to me that releasing it on PSN would be a relatively cheap option and as a downloadable game it would be sure to sell gangbusters. Sadly it looks like we’ll have to say goodbye to Yakuza Kenzan!, Yakuza 3 and Yakuza 4 unless the fans can convince Sega otherwise.
