thatgamecompany’s third Sony game not Flowery?
A third thatgamecompany (Flower, FlOw and Cloud) title is in development and no it’s not Flower 2 (or Flowery as we like to call it around these parts).
The new title will be a “totally different game” but one that they feel is a natural progression from their previous titles. But they promise the game will be “something you’ve never experienced before.”
This was revealed at the Brighton Develop Conference during thatgamecompany co-founder Jenova Chen’s discussion on the future of videogames. Saying that film critics use descriptive words like “magical”, “passionate” and “captivating” to describe movies, terms that would never be used to describe most games. Instead gamers say stuff along the lines of, “this is really fun, this is really cool. As if they are describing a car. In the future there’s a lot of feelings that videogames haven’t explored that are open for us to find. Variety is a sign of a mature medium.”
The third game being released on the PS3 is virtually guarenteed as he had high praise for Sony and the fact that they keep funding his little games. He also stated that their fourth game will likely be something completely different and take advantage of the new motion sensing technology, likely the PS3 “Wand” Motion Controller.
