LucasArts will release a ton of classic PC games from their back-catalog onto Steam for your downloading pleasure (at a cost of course) tomorrow, June 8th.

According to the press release the company says how this is the beginning of a new initiative “in its effort to revive its classic and beloved franchises.” They claim this is a “new mission to revitalize its deep portfolio of beloved gaming franchises.” Whoo-hooo!

There will be several “rounds” of releases that will be made available, with the first set including ten fan-favorites.

Here is the complete list of games to be released on July 8 via Steam:

* Armed and Dangerous
* Indiana Jones and the Fate of Atlantis
* Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade: The Graphic Adventure
* LEGO Indiana Jones: The Original Adventure
* LOOM
* Star Wars Battlefront II
* Star Wars Republic Commando
* Star Wars Starfighter
* The Dig
* Thrillville: Off the Rails

“This effort is going to make it possible to introduce a whole new generation of gamers to LucasArts’ classic games,” said Darrell Rodriguez, president of LucasArts. “It also gives more people a chance to play our games by making them available long after they’ve disappeared from store shelves. We hope our fans are as excited as we are about our plans and we can’t wait to share what’s coming next. This is just the beginning.”

This follows on the heels of Tales of Monkey Island, a new epic episodic storyline in the classic Monkey Island franchise that is now available on PC, and soon on WiiWare, with the first episode. And on July 15th fans will get The Secret of Monkey Island: Special Edition, a remake of the original game with high-definition graphics, a re-mastered musical score and all new voice overs. It will be available on Xbox Live Arcade and PC.

    I just bought Indiana Jones on Wii to get the Fate of Atlantis and now they go and do this after years of nothing. Pretty ironic, but I’m still really happy and hope they release their entire back catalog on Steam!

    Where is my Grim Fandango LucasArts????????
