Dino Crisis 4 missing as series celebrates 10th anniversary

Dino Crisis 4 would be this but in MUCH higher quality. Run Regina Run!
Dino Crisis 4 has never been announced by Capcom as we enter into the 10th birthday of the original Dino Crisis, which was released for the PlayStation One way back on July 1st, 1999 (in Japan).

Cashing in on the “survival horror” king, the Resident Evil series, Dino Crisis sought to differentiate itself from that titan of gaming by taking the same horror formula (down to “door opening sequences”, complex puzzles, a fixed camera perspective and key finding fetch quests) that worked there and adding . . . YOU GUESSED IT! Dinosaurs! Everything is better when you add dinosaurs right? RIGHT?!

The sad fact is that Dino Crisis wasn’t necessarily a bad game. And if it was remade now it would be an AWESOME game (see the picture above. Now picture it in HD). However it was literally Resident Evil 3: Nemesis with dinosaurs. Which became less appealing when you added new, unfamiliar characters and the same style of voice-acting from that era (i.e. the voice acting sucks). However dinosaurs were a big enough difference back in the late 90′s to make an impact, and the game sold over 2.4 million copies. Making it a 32-bit hit for Capcom.

Dino Crisis 2 actually took that similarity to heart by fundamentally changing the game into a shooter . . . although it used the same gameplay formula as all survival horror games of the time, the focus was now on shooting and action instead puzzles. Swarms of dinosaurs would come at you and you would earn points (yes, points) for the more kills and “combos” you performed. I never played the game but it got great reviews in the pages of EGM and other mags at the time.

Then came the Xbox-exclusive Dino Crisis 3 . . . We shall refrain from speaking of that shameful retail and critical bomb. You can find information on it on the Internet. Somewhere else.

I’ll just say this. Dino Crisis 3 to the Dino Crisis franchise what Jason X is to Friday the 13th. Dinosaurs. Cybernetic dinosaurs. In space. Apparently someone thought that would be a good idea. And then they were probably fired.

Sadly I was never able to complete the original Dino Crisis despite being a fan of the game. All because of that DAMN PIPE PUZZLE!!!!!!!!! Of course, this is 2009, so maybe I should replay the game. I’m sure youtube could finally help me solve it.

Now let’s hope that Capcom re-releases the first two Dino Crisis games on the PlayStation Network to celebrate the franchise’s anniversary! This in fact may indeed happen as Capcom will be releasing classic PS1 titles on the PlayStation Network in the USA, and Dino Crisis’ name has already been brought up!

Okay to be completely fair, I never played Dino Crisis 3 . . . just read about how bad it was.

Same here, I’d love to see a Dino Crisis 4. Heck I’d even be fine with a straight up remake of the first Dino Crisis, similar to what they did with Resident Evil remake on GameCube. And I agree with Ferry, we need more next-gen dinosaur games!

sorry to say but it does say on multiple things that the 3rd was the final one

i loved the first 1 never got to play the 2nd one but 3rd one screw that 4th one would be tight it would fix the bad name they got from the 3rd one

i played dino crisis 1 and 2 and i was hving good time i want to see dino crisis 4 only in the ps3

i played dc1,2,ds and the shity dc3 on xbox which ruined the series but i’d love to see a remake of the dc1 for the ps3 or a brand new dc that goes back to it’s original roots from late 90′s

since i only played dino crisis 2 and 3, but i have to say that dino crisis2 is an awsome game and better than 3.
I would love to have it that dino crisis 4 be more like 2 .
I like space games (traveling in space and other worlds games). but the mix between space and dino’s did not work for me, i prefer solid land, rivers, etc.

Yes, I admit that Dino crisis 3 wasn’t good at all with the storyline change,enimies and characters,but it was still a cool game,because of the better graphics in this 3rd Dino Crisis game and the fast gameplay from Dino crisis 2 they made many big changes to the 3rd game that I did not like much, they should remake the first 2 games with better graphics on the playstation 2,3 and x-box original and x-box 360,since they made the 3rd game on the original x-box. Now in the current year of 2009 I’m now looking back everytime to these 3 Dino Crisis games, I’m getting really obsessed and excited about these Dino Crisis games and it makes me sad that there will be no Dino Crisis 4. They should remake all of the games and replace the storyline of Dino Crisis 3, make it to the same way one of or both of the first 2 games were,or just leave the 3rd one alone and just try very hard to make the Dino crisis 4,and or make a movie of dino crisis, with real actors or something cool to bring back the dino crisis franchise back to life or Ressusitate it back.There are 3 things that I’m not sure if they are going happen is a 4th Jurassic Park movie, a Dino Crisis movie with actors, or I’m not sure if they made it yet, and a 4th Dino Crisis video game, I want these things to happen it would make me very happy. Space or Alien dinosaurs is a good idea,but they just put that type of game in a little bit too early. These Dino Crisis games gave me a lot of inspiration and imagination to dinosaurs,also made me like dinosaurs for a long time now too. I like these Dino Crisis video games very much, cause of the characters, weapons,gameplay, and storyline,to me these games were the best games ever made and thought of, now they should just remake the games in any way possible or needed for all gamers around the world to make these Dino Crisis games a few times better,more fun, and make gamers like the Dino Crisis games more and more and more for a very long time.

Well, Dino Crisis 2 actually ends on a cliff hanger. Even though this is true, the cliff hanger is resolved by the PS2 lightgun game, Dino Stalker. Dylan and his daughter Paula make an appearance in this game and it mentions the Noah’s Ark plan mentioned in a couple of files found in Dino Crisis 2.

Dino Stalker is actually part of the Capcom Gun Survivor series. All of the Gun Survivor games of course go by different names here in the US because Capcom USA is weird like that. In Japan its name is actually Gun Survivor 3: Dino Crisis. It is the only Gun Survivor game in the Series to be based off of the Dino Crisis series. All of the others are based off of the Resident Evil Series.
