StarCraft 2 will not have LAN multiplayer, only online via Battle.net
Blizzard has confirmed that StarCraft 2 will ONLY contain online multiplayer via Battle.net, and will NOT include LAN multiplayer. Which is sure to be upsetting for tons of StarCraft fans.
To quote Rob Pardo, senior VP of game design at Blizzard Entertainment in an interview with IncGamers, “We don’t have any plans to support LAN. We will not support it.”
Why is this? Apparently it’s because of the “planned technology” which will be incorporated into Battle.net. Of which we will learn at a later date.
