Obsidian’s Aliens RPG cancelled

Aliens RPG cancelled by Obisidian and Sega
The Aliens RPG from Obsidian Entertainment and Sega is officially dead, as the developer confirmed its cancellation as they focus on upcoming games Alpha Protocol and Fallout: New Vegas.

And before any of you gets worried, the OTHER Aliens games are still in development: Aliens vs Predator by Rebellion Developments and Aliens: Colonial Marines by Gearbox. Both games are also being published by Sega.

Here is what the developer had to say about the cancellation of their Alien RPG.
“Rumors have circled around a bit regarding the fate of the Aliens role playing game that Obsidian and SEGA had been working on,” an Obsidian representative said on the developer’s official forums.“Unfortunately, it is true that we are no longer working on the game, and we wanted to finally announce that officially to everyone who has been following its development.”

Meanwhile Sega said, “Sega has no plans to move forward with the Aliens RPG.” They then went on to say they were very “excited and focused” on Aliens vs. Predator.

While the idea of an Aliens role-playing game sounds very strange to me, I wonder if Obsidian will pick up development on the game later on after they’ve released Fallout: New Vegas and Alpha Protocal.
