Turn your mobile phone into a powerful PC with OTOY’s 3D game streaming

OTOY allows you to stream high-end HD video games to your cell phone!
Ever wanted to play Grand Theft Auto IV, Crysis or The Sims 3 on your cell phone?

Well OTOY is an upcoming service that may make the impossible possible. This impressive technology allows you to literally play any high-end game on any web-browser . . . and they mean ANY web-browser, including one from your cell phone!

What’s more, playing HD games streamed to your browser requires no downloads, plug-ins or installs . . . simply boot your browser and you are good to go. Additionally you can even play with any wi-fi controller. Get a glimpse of this crazy technology in this video.

The developers are working on an number of control schemes for cell phones running the service, including using the phone’s acceleromoter, an on-screen gamepad, or external peripherals including standard game controllers like you see in the video above.

OTOY will work over any Wi-Fi or 3G connection. They’ve gotten the service to stream HD games with as low speeds as 1.5 Mb a second! Wi-fi will apparently work best for the service though. They are also working on getting it to work on nearly any cell phone, even those that are low end.

No additional details like pricing have been announced yet, and I can imagine that the service won’t work too well in places where reception isn’t good. But either way this is definitely the wave of the future. Having the ability to play REAL games from anywhere directly on your cell phone is something that I think a lot of people would pay good money for.
