An online survey ordered by Electronic Arts revealed Command & Conquer 4 is being planned by the development house. C&C4, as the next RTS title in the long-running series, might finally wrap up the Tiberium storyline, as well as adding MMORPG-like gameplay progression into the mix!
While an online survey is meant to gauge interest and gamer preferences, it’s a great indication of what the studio is thinking of including in the unofficial sequel.
Let’s go over the first details. To quote the survey questions and possible responses:
“Now we would like to tell you about a new Command & Conquer game. Please read the following description.
Command & Conquer 4 allows C&C fans to finally experience the epic conclusion to the 15-year Tiberium saga with innovative RPG-like player progression, persistent in both single player and Multiplayer modes, co-op play, and new stylized, live-action cinematics.
Based on this description of the game, how appealing is the game to you? Please select one.
“Which of the following features would you like to see in a future version of Command & Conquer? Please select all that apply.
The survey closes off by asking “How interested would you be in participating in a beta program for Command & Conquer 4 if it were made available?” as well as gauging interest in the availability of a demo, downloadable content, digital download options, system requirements, and what other in-game features you’d like to see?
I’m a HUGE fan of the C&C series and I can’t wait to hear EVA say these words again:
“Welcome back, Commander.”
The C&C4 survey was received via email.
Update July 2009: EA’s UK PR team just accidentally tweeted a non-existent C&C4 PR announcement that Command & Conquer 4 is now in development at EA Los Angeles. This, in combination with the C&C Primetime show stating a huge news announcement is coming later this month, expect the official announcement to arrive in July.
