Turbine has announced that their three-year-old MMO Dungeons & Dragons Online: Stormreach will be switching from paid subscription to free-to-play upon the release of this Summer’s free downloadable Eberron Unlimited expansion pack. Those who download the expansion will have the ability to level all the way to the new level-cap of 20.
As far as the free stuff is concerned, Turbine and publisher Atari have come up with a plethora of different models and payment options.
If you already are a paid subscriber to the game, then you can choose to keep on paying in order to become a VIP member (the monthly fee is $15). VIP status will grant you access to all premium adventure packs, give you 10 character slots, a shared bank slot, and a monthly ration of 500 points for the DDO Store.
For those who are playing the free version of the game, the developers will earn income from the DDO Store which allows players to purchase premium content such as dungeon packs, hirelings, character slots, and additional items and weapons from the DDO Store.
