The Godfather 3 videogame not likely at present

The Godfather Part III movie box At E3 2009 this week, the president of the EA Games label Frank Gibeau, was interviewed and asked if a The Godfather III game based on Francis Ford Coppola’s The Godfather Part III movie (1990) was still possible after disappointing sales of The Godfather II videogame at just 241,000 units in America in its release month of April 2009.

He told the LA Times that his company is finished making video games based on the revered film series. To quote: “We’re not going to do another one,” and then noted that the company has no Godfather titles on its current production schedule, which extends out three years.

A spokesperson for Paramount’s digital entertainment group didn’t share Gibeau’s perspective, saying: “Plans for the next Godfather game have not been decided.”

An EA publicist then backpedalled via email to clarify Gibeau’s statement: “We do not currently have a Godfather game in development. Nothing has been decided as to future sequels. Paramount is a great partner.”

Sounds like fans shouldn’t get their hopes up before 2013, if then.
