The PSP Go is no longer just a new Sony brand. It’s been revealed a few days early (before Sony’s pre-E3 keynote on Tuesday) on the June 2009 preview of Qore that the new version of the PSP handheld, “PSP Go”, will be released in Q3 2009.

SCEA’s Hardware Marketing Director, John Koller, also revealed in the below video that new versions of Gran Turismo and Metal Gear Solid are on the way for PSP. Along with the already announced LittleBigPlanet PSP and Jak and Daxter: The Lost Frontier.

The PSP Go features include:

  • A 3.8-inch sliding screen. Which is smaller than the 4.3-inch standard PSP screen. The resolution is unknown at this time.
  • It’s 43% lighter than the PSP-3000.
  • Has 16 gigabytes of internal flash memory, and allows for additional Memory Stick Micro cards as well.
  • Support for Bluetooth. Supports handset tethering and BT headsets.
  • And has all-digital content via full PlayStation Network support (including movie and TV rentals/purchases), so no more UMD Drive.
