Guitar Hero 5 has gotten an official release date in America/Canada of September 1, 2009, for Xbox 360, PS3, Wii and PS2. In Europe the game will come out on September 11th, and in Australia it will appear on September 16th.

As we reported earlier, the game will allow players to combine any instruments that they want to play however they want. So you can play the game with three guitars and one drummer if you like.

Additionally the Party Play mode allows gamers to seamlessly jump in or out of sessions and play any songs they like. While a new RockFest mode offers five new head-to-head modes to play both offline or online. You’ll even have access to the game’s entire tracklist in multiplayer from day one.

The game will also automatically be compatible with any downloaded songs from Guitar Hero: World Tour.

Guitar Hero 5 itself will offer 85 all-new songs form the likes of Kings of Leon, The Rolling Stones, The White Stripes, Santana, Vampire Weekend, Tom Petty, Johnny Cash, and Bob Dylan. Including genres that have yet to be seen in a Guitar Hero game!

Guitar Hero 5 also refines the player experience, enhances the art style and redesigns core features such as GHMusic Studio, making it the most accessible, fun-to-play and authentic experience for seasoned music gamers as well as first-time players. New innovations such as Band Moments, where bands are rewarded for hitting special note streams together and song challenges where gamers are tasked to play through a song a specific way, add a new competitive layer of excitement and accomplishment to the music rhythm genre.

GameSpot got an exclusive first look at the game in action.

I predict this is coming out in Australia on the 18th of October. Can someone tell me when they have found a release date? Thanks.

The release date is September 11th, not 1st. Thanks for getting my hopes up :(

Sorry about that Steph, we listed the American/Canadian date first. I’ve now added the European and Australian release dates as well.
