Xbox 360 cheaters beware! Those who cheat to illegally inflate their Xbox 360 GamerScore’s with bogus Achievements and GamerPoints have been warned. Keep doing it and you could be tagged and banned.
This is according to Stephen Toulouse (in charge of Xbox Live Policy and Enforcement) and Xbox Live’s own Major Nelson.
In discussions on the topic during the Major Nelson podcast, Stephen explained what has been happening in regards to GamerScore cheaters:
“Through a combination of profile resigning - which is against our terms of use - or what’s known as glitching, people try to trade profiles as fast as they can to confuse the console and make it so it might pass an achievement.”
Naturally, this violates Microsoft’s terms of use agreement that you agreed to when signing up to Xbox Live.
When asked if Gamerscores could be reset over just one game, Toulouse said, “I’m going to go ahead and admit that the bar is a little bit higher than that, because we are a little bit conservative. It resets your score to zero but it also puts a tag that you’ve been caught cheating on your Gamercard. Since that’s a pretty big scarlet letter, we want to make sure that we’re absolutely sure.”
Cheaters have been warned.
