SWAT 5 cancelled

SWAT 5 is cancelled. It was cancelled all the way back in 2006. So if you are a fan of the series, and have been holding your breath since SWAT 4, then please release and be at ease.

The SWAT games are tactical first-person shooters that have primarily been released on the PC. In the games players lead a tactical SWAT team that is called in to resolve various situations like apprehending dangerous criminals and resolving hostage crises. SWAT 4 was built on developer Irrational Game’s “Vengeance” engine which was powered using Unreal Engine 2.0. SWAT 4: The Stetchkov Syndicate was released on February 28th 2006 for PC and will apparently be the last game in the series.

The cancellation of SWAT 5 was revealed via a resume posted online by a developer who previously worked on the game, where he confirmed it was in development on the PS3. It likely would’ve also hit Xbox 360 and PC.

—> No NO NO/…. whats the REAL reason-too controversial, no funding WHAT!!! I’m 1 of the PS3 owners who was waiting far a realistic SWAT game ! my pc is too slow to play SWAT 4…… this is a CRIME !

Ffs. Why do game developers keep making games like MW2 (with respect to that game). Swat was a true tactical game, where you dont just bunny hop and camp with your sniper in the bushes. That game was true FPP with a big learning curve. Such a shame !

i read in a gameinformer (issue 202 page 69) that irrational was about to lay out the idea for swat 5 when the idea of taking down zombies in a co-op fashion. It was called division 9 and was cancelled in 2005 because publishers didn’t think that zombies would get big in the following years. This became the core concept for left 4 dead one and two, so go buy that and say you have swat 5 . hope this helped.

No way! I was totally hoping they’d make it, I’ve loved the past few. Exactly what gizmo says, it was a great game because it actually required thinking before shooting. I’ve had situations were a guy had locked himself in a bathroom with a girl, keeping a gun to her head. Try and figure that one out without going in there shooting up the place like Rambo! So sorry to hear this..!!

Sigh. This is still one of my favorite games that I love to go back to. Although I have been playing Tom Clancy’s Rainbow six vegas, the first one. It isn’t bad, but I don’t think as good. I have the second one, but still waiting to finish the first.
