Hitman 5 is currently in development! This was confirmed in an interview with the president of Eidos.
Question: Can you give us some details about the next Hitman game?
Answer: “It’s being worked on, but there’s been no announcement on the release date yet. We haven’t even announced the game yet, so everything you hear about the next Hitman game is purely speculation at this point.”
At least we know that the game is in the works. Additionally, the game has been seen listed on various sites with a release for this year for Xbox 360. Although it’s highly likely that the game will also come to PS3 and PC. I also wouldn’t be surprised if it slipped till 2010. — Via GamingIndians
Update June 2009: It’s now being reported that the Hitman 2 movie will “contain story elements from the Hitman 5 game? and that the aforementioned will be released “in late 2010.”
