Xbox 360 rumored to get full-body motion-sensor

Xbox 360 motion sensor bar

The Xbox 360 may be getting Wii-ified with a full-body motion sensing system that has been revealed thanks to Engadget.

So what does this mean for the Xbox 360? It means that it could directly compete with the Wii, allowing you to control games with your body without the use of controllers. Which is a very big deal.

The sensor bar can pick up fully body and hand gestures that could be used to control your characters in games. You could say have a fighting where you you would have to use your body to duck, punch, kick, jump, etc. and that would be translated to the game.

Other features apparently include the ability for the sensor to pick up small gestures such as pinching, grabbing and scrolling. The sensor will allow you to conduct video conferencing and play games with video. There could be trivia games that include live images of the people playing, where they answer in by clapping. You could move objects on your screen and the other people could see what you are doing in real-time. And the sensors have the ability to detect just the person playing, not the other people sitting with you.

Definitely sounds exciting. I expect we’ll learn more about this at E3 next month.
