The Guild season 3 starts late summer 2009 on Xbox Live, MSN and Zune

Felicia Day, creator of The Guild is writing season 3 of the show

The Guild season 3 has officially been commissioned by Microsoft.

If you haven’t heard of The Guild it is a successful webisode sitcom mini-series (episodes are 3-7 minutes in length) that started July 2007 online at places like youtube, theguild.com, iTunes and effinfunny.com. The show was eventually scooped up by Microsoft and made available for purchase on Xbox Live.

The Guild Season One on DVDSeason 3 will contain 12 episodes and is set to begin this Summer on Xbox Live, MSN and Zune via an exclusive Microsoft deal. Although creator Felicia Day will maintain rights to the series with Microsoft paying an unspecified license fee upfront to distribute it on their services. Because of the Microsoft exclusivity there will be a four week delay between the shows run on the aforementioned formats and it’s release on theguild.com.

There will be a sneak peak at the third season of The Guild at this year’s San Diego Comic-Con. The show’s 3rd season is currently in the writing phase with production set to start this June.

The Guild Season Two on DVDNo details on the plot for the third season have been released, but Felicia Day did say this; “The cliffhanger in Season 2 is pretty dramatic, and the repercussions of that will be felt by the guild in season 3. Expect a lot of real-life distractions for the characters and some hurt feelings from the last season.”
