Patapon 3 for PS3 or PSP has “a good chance” of being made

With the release of Patapon 2 for PSP on May 5th, the inevitable question of a sequel like Patapon 3 from Sony may have entered your mind. After all, the series is highly regarded and has garnered solid reviews thanks to its style, originality and fun.

According to associate producer Chris Hinojosa-Miranda, Patapon 3 is definitely something that is on the minds of the developers. He states that he is “listening to” the requests that people make for future games, particularly for a Patapon 3 PS3 downloadable title that would feature online modes (almost sounds like a confirmation to me).

Asked directly about Patapon 3, Chris states:

“There’s such a critical love for Patapon, the characters, the story overall, and the music especially . . . there’s a good chance that the franchise will continue.”

He said the team is also looking for ways to license out the Patapon characters for other, non-videogame uses, such as Patapon plush dolls which will be getting another batch of releases soon.

Update June 2010: The official PlayStation Japan website has a countdown clock on a Marusen page showing a Patapon 3 teaser image! It could be Patapon PS3 or Patapon 3 for PSP! Expect to see a trailer at E3 2010 on June 15.

What would make patapon 3 better is to have a weapon shop,more rare equiment,new minigames,cool bosses like the kraken that sunk the ship in the 2,more bizzare creature,new juju like making all your attacks cause elemental damage(fire,ice,electricity,sleep),new type of patapon but best of all making the game a lot longer.

I think for the whole franchise idea, it’d be cool if you made custom plush dolls. Also maybe have a online customization for hero images where you can dress them in any mask and make them any level rarepon you want. I want to be able to do this because I wanted to tattoo my hero on me lol. It may seem nerdy but i think the little guys look cool. As for the actual game, I can’t complain much except the whole rescuing meden thing angered me in 1 and 2. I would leave that out in the 3rd to prevent being called out on monotony. As for the post above me, well… It says anything that I could and more lol so I’ll let you listen to them on what the people want.

@Patapon veteran: If there’s any time it will be announced, it will be at E3 2010 that’s next week. You’ll either have to wait a long time after that, or you’ll find out in 7 days. So you might in fact get Patapon 3 very soon. Fingers crossed!

And also, Iwish the part to save Meden will be removed so it will be easier even just for a little bit and it will become so much, much, much more longer so while we are waiting for “Patapon 4″ we are enjoying the Patapon 3!!!:):):):):):):):):):)
