Patapon 3 for PS3 or PSP has “a good chance” of being made

With the release of Patapon 2 for PSP on May 5th, the inevitable question of a sequel like Patapon 3 from Sony may have entered your mind. After all, the series is highly regarded and has garnered solid reviews thanks to its style, originality and fun.

According to associate producer Chris Hinojosa-Miranda, Patapon 3 is definitely something that is on the minds of the developers. He states that he is “listening to” the requests that people make for future games, particularly for a Patapon 3 PS3 downloadable title that would feature online modes (almost sounds like a confirmation to me).

Asked directly about Patapon 3, Chris states:

“There’s such a critical love for Patapon, the characters, the story overall, and the music especially . . . there’s a good chance that the franchise will continue.”

He said the team is also looking for ways to license out the Patapon characters for other, non-videogame uses, such as Patapon plush dolls which will be getting another batch of releases soon.

Update June 2010: The official PlayStation Japan website has a countdown clock on a Marusen page showing a Patapon 3 teaser image! It could be Patapon PS3 or Patapon 3 for PSP! Expect to see a trailer at E3 2010 on June 15.

I love patapon ! It’s really original. Games were going in the same direction when patapons came ! Or may I say when a new world came !

Waaah, It’s really COOL!!!
Just love the game, can’t wait the finished patapon 2 then 3.

The game starts in a dark place where a light from the sky talks to you and gives you the Pon Drum. Then you go to a mysterious place where the Patapons are all stone statues. A Hoshipon comes and tells you something (its in japanese) then he goes over to stone Hero. He powers him up into an all new Superhero Patapon.

From there you find Hatapon beating the Pata Drum. You travel by Hatapon beating PATA PATA PATA and you beating PON. Then Hoshipon turns 1 Yaripon, 1 Tatepon, and 1 Yumipon back alive again. Then Hatapon Gives you the Pata Drum. Thats all you know from the Patapon 3 Demo. After the english version is downloadable we will know the what the game really says.
