11 characters have been revealed so far to appear in X-Men Origins: Wolverine for the Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, PC (labeled “Uncaged Edition” and M-Rated), Wii, PS2, PSP and DS. It will be released in America on May 1st, 2009, day-and-date with the theatrical release of the film it’s based on.
In this intense and violent 3rd-person action game, players will take on the role of Wolverine and witness his origins while unraveling the relationship between him and rival mutant Sabretooth as the game loosely follows the movie. So if you don’t want to spoil what mutants appear in the movie, don’t read the game’s character cast.
The game was built from the ground up around an R-rated film (later downgraded to PG-13 after the game had already started development) meaning the game makes full use of Wolverine’s claws to slice and dice in bloody and realistic form, as heads roll (literally) and limbs fly (literally). The Xbox 360, PS3 and PC versions live up to their Mature rating while the other versions have been toned down for a Teen rating (Wii, PS2, PSP and DS) which is more in line with the final PG-13 rating of the movie.
