Microsoft warranty extended to cover E74 errors

Xbox 360 owners have gotten another layer of protection as Microsoft has extended their warranty to cover E74 Errors.
While the Red Rings of Death (RROD) used to be the king of the error hill and gamers most feared bringing of destruction, the E74 errors have gotten much attention this year.
While the RROD effect a rumored 30% of Xbox 360′s sold in 2006 (causing Microsoft to extend their warranty to 3 years and fix any RROD-effected Xbox 360′s for free) this new error seems to be effecting more and more Xbox 360′s.
To that end, Microsoft will now fix any Xbox 360′s inflicted with the error for free under their new extended warranty. The cause of the error isn’t known, but it’s likely linked to some kind of system failure just like the RROD. And instead of displaying three red lights, this error causes the console to display “74″ on the screen.
So while this won’t help if you are already inflicted, at least you can breath a sigh of relief in knowing that you CAN send your Xbox 360 in to Microsoft and get it fixed for free.
