Ubisoft is teasing Assassin’s Creed 2 via an official web-site for the game and a new trailer.

Although it can’t be known for sure since nothing has been officially revealed yet, it seems that the next game will take place in an all-new time period. It’s up to you to guess which time period that is, but the word Animus (the machine used in the first game) is displayed as is a hand-drawn art style similar to Leonardo da Vinci’s inventions with a focus on Altair’s concealed blad that he used in the original Assassin’s Cred and da Vinci’s Vitruvian Man.

Previous Assassins Creed 2 rumors had the setting of the game taking place Venice, Italy and the site notes that more will be revealed on April 16th, 2009 (via Game Informer).

Here is the teaser trailer for Assassins Creed 2.

Supa update: Apparently if you go to the official Assassin’s Creed 2 website, after watching the teaser, you can find Augumented Reality easter eggs! At the end of the video click on the big symbol, print out the given PDF, then click on the red Animus logo (on the left of the screen). Clicking on the top box on the left and holding up the printed out symbol in front of your webcam will activate game-related Augumented Reality! This means a 2D image will display a 3D model on-screen. Watch the three videos below to see what they look like:

Assassins Creed 2 Augumented Reality 1: The new hidden blade model that brings death.

Assassins Creed 2 Augumented Reality 2: The new main character hero is Ezio (Italian for Eagle). Like the end of the trailer it hints he can fly/hover with the mechanic wings on his back.

Assassins Creed 2 Augumented Reality 3: A version of Da Vinci’s Vetruvian Man as an assassin, upgraded to have TWO hidden blades.
