Sega has announced Puyo Pop 7 for released on the Wii, DS and PSP.

The Puyo Puyo series (called Puyo Pop in the U.S.) is a puzzle game in which players have to move falling colored pieces to match four like colors together (sounds like every other puzzle game, eh?). It was most well known back in the day as Kirby’s Avalanche and Dr. Robotnik’s Mean Bean Machine.

Puyo Puyo 7 will launch first on the DS on July 30th this year with the Wii and PSP versions to release this Winter in Japan.

As far as gameplay is concerned, the newest addition is full online play. The game will also feature a new “Transformation mode” in which players can deflect enemy attacks to chain bigger combos together.
