Pokemon Platinum for DSThis Pokemon Platinum tips guide will show you how to take a shortcut to getting certain Pokemon, find easter eggs, and when you get a National Pokedex in the DS RPG.

Pokemon help guide:

Unlock the following Pokemon: Pichu, Pikachu, or Raichu with Volt Tackle.
Go to the trophy garden in the Pokemon mansion and catch two pikachus; make sure one of them has a light ball when you catch them. Then go to Solaceon town and give the pikachus to the day care lady. Talk to the man outside the day care center and he will give you an egg. When the egg cracks open a pichu with volt tackle comes out. Note: If you want a female pichu give the light ball to the male and if you want a male give it to the female.

How to catch Dialga and Palkia.
First defeat the Elite Four and acquire the National Pokedex. Then, head to Mt. Coronet and scale it to the top where Team Galactic was. One of the two legendary pokemon will be there. Catch it or beat it then leave and return and the other should be there. Before taking them on, you’ll need specific orbs. To get these, make your way to Mt. Coronet through Hearthome City as if going to Sky Pillar. After progressing through about 3 caves, a new entrance will be available and inside are the orbs required to battle Palkia and Dialga.

When do you get the National Pokedex?
Complete the Sinnoh Pokedex by seeing all 210 regional Pokemon, then talk to Professor Rowan in his lab and he’ll give you the National Pokedex.

Handy tips:

Locations of the 8 Hidden Machines:
HM01 (Cut) – As you come back from the pokemon statue in Eterne City (on the northeast side), a trainer named Cynthia will give it to you
HM02 (Fly) – Found in an Item Ball in the Galactic Warehouse (Veilstone City)
HM03 (Surf) – The Elder of Celestic Town gives it to you after you beat Cyrus (in the ruins)
HM04 (Strength – Riley gives this one to you at Iron Island’s cave entrance
HM05 (Defog) – Inside an Item Ball in the heart of Solaceon Ruins
HM06 (Rock Smash) – A hiker gives it to you as you go through Oreburgh Gate
HM07 (Waterfall) – After beating Volkner, Jasmine (of the Johto Region) gives it to you on Sunyshore Beach
HM08 (Rock Climb) – Inside an Item Ball behind a cabin on the left side of Route 217

Griseous Orb for Giratina origin form:
After you beat you game, go back to sendoff spring. Cynthia will have left so you can enter the cave she was blocking. Enter Turnback cave just like in Diamond / Pearl. At the end you find an item and the entrance to the Distortion world. Go through it to find the Griseous orb. It’s like the Adamant orb for Giratina. If you give it to Giratina, it can stay in its origin form outside the Distortion World. If you didn’t catch Giratina in the Distortion World, you can catch it in Turnback cave.

Easy daily experience battle:
You can find a new opponent to battle every day at the Pokemon Center in Hearthome City, next to the counter.

Easter eggs:

Diamond Dust will fall at Snow point city:
Go to Snow Point City during the 12th of January and you will see Diamond Dusts falling on the town. It is because of the birthday of Junichi Masuda, Gamefreaks Director and Composer of Pokemon Music.

Happy Birthday Message from Dawn/Lucas:
After beating Elite 4, if you play the game on your birthday, or if you set the DS clock to your birthday, and talk to Dawn/Lucas, she/he will wish you a Happy Birthday.

Secret box wallpapers:
Go to Jubilife City, and talk to the TV producer on the third floor of the TV Station. Tell him certain words when he asks you for your feedback on TV. Go to this page to generate these words. This will unlock a special box wallpaper in your game.

Mow the lawn:
You can use Pokemon with the Cut ability to cut the tall grass you encounter in your quest. Just use the ability when you are near a patch of tall grass.

Thanks for this. I’m going to have to look at it in September as well. Because that’s when Australia gets Platinum. lol

NP! Bummer you have to wait so long.

  • KISSfan

I know, it sucks. And I can’t go on Amazon.com to get it from America, because they can’t ship it to Australia legally.

  • KISSfan

What do you mean by NP by the way?

  • http://www.videogamesblogger.com supadupagama

Yeh Amazon is like that, it’s either not allowed or shipping costs as much as theg ame. I wouldn’t go for Ebay.com either, because there are a lot of fake Asian copies of Pokemon games on there.

Oh and NP means: no problem.

  • KISSfan

Cool. I don’t like Ebay anyway. But I am wrong about the release of Platinum. Today I found out it comes out May 14! I am so happy now.
