Final Fantasy XIV to feature transvestite leads. Release set for PS4 in 2020

A new Final Fantasy game was always going to be a given for the Sony PlayStation 4. Developer Square Enix today announced that Final Fantasy XIV has already gone into pre-production.
With company president Yoichi Wada stating: “At long last, the day we have all been waiting for has arrived. It gives me great pleasure to unveil this today – especially a next-gen version of the latest in a series that has shipped 85 million. It is planned for release.
We believe that releasing a PS4 version in 2020 will allow us with enough time to provide a game to win over even more fans in Asia, North America and Europe. And we’re working hard on its development. Last of all, I‘d like to thank all the patient fans looking forward to Final Fantasy XIII due 2010 for giving me the opportunity.”
The joint-statement was held with Sony Computer Entertainment Worldwide Studios president Shuhei Yoshida who stated that “Back in January 1994, when we were preparing for the launch of PlayStation, and we went to CES in Las Vegas, and we started trying to evangelise, showing the early demonstrations to major publishers like Square. That was when we found out about the power of a global approach to game hardware and software.”
He then continued by telling a baffled press that “Having Square Enix on-board this early has allowed us to influence their development cycle in the longer term. In order to realize our vision of global oriented gaming, Square Enix will be making Final Fantasy XIV more accessible to gamers of all races, genders and sexualities. In the past PlayStation and RPG fans indicated confusion at what gender the protagonists belonged to, that is why we suggested they implement transvestite leads and that will be the main attraction. We really support the creative vision and help them to achieve it. Something unique like that must be easier to come out of our group, then perhaps with other publishers.”
That’ll be the main attraction alright, a guessing game!
