First Ninja Gaiden Sigma 2 trailer. PS3 remake features online co-op and new characters
New details have come out regarding Ninja Gaiden Sigma 2, the PlayStation 3 update of the previously Xbox 360-exclusive Ninja Gaiden 2 which is due for PS3 release this Fall.
The game will two new playable characters. The first is Dead or Alive’s petite ninja Ayane, whom Ninja Gaiden fans are well familiar with but have never actually gotten to play as (in an action game of course, she is a well-liked Dead or Alive fighter). The second is a character originally revealed in the DS-exclusive Ninja Gaiden: Dragon Sword, a female warrior named Momiji. Each character will be woven into the existing Ninja Gaiden 2 story with their own branching off points.
In addition, Ninja Gaiden Sigma 2 will include, wait for it . . . ONLINE CO-OP PLAY! Sadly though, you will not actually be able to play through the single-player campaign in co-op, instead getting 30 challenge areas for which to play co-op in one of four difficulty settings.
Regardless this is a pretty big leap for the Ninja Gaiden series which has remained single-player since the original on Xbox 1. Hopefully for Ninja Gaiden 3 we’ll gain full campaign co-op.
Naturally, Ninja Gaiden Sigma 2 will also include the prerequisite new enemies, weapons, camera tweaks and gameplay tweaks that you come to expect for these kind of updates.
Here is the game’s official trailer.
