Apple has demonstrated their new Operating System (OS) for the iPhone and iPod Touch. Although the new OS will have a ton of new features for users to get excited about, we are only interested in the ones that could be used for gaming purposes.
These include:
* Access to bluetooth and the dock connector for application developers. This means that third-party thumb-stick peripherals should now be possible.
* Ad hoc network creation. This will allow for multiplayer games without requiring an Internet connection, allowing you to play locally with other users.
* Purchasing additional content from within an app. This, naturally, will allow for downloadable content to be made available.
The new Operating System has a targeted release date of this Summer 2009.
